Inspired Therapeutics Announces Award of NIH SBIR Phase II Grant to Develop Next Generation NeoMate Pediatric Ventricular Assist System

Inspired Therapeutics LLC (Melbourne, FL) announced today that the company was awarded a $6,070,246 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research Grant from the National Institutes of Health to continue to develop its next-generation NeoMate extracorporeal mechanical circulatory support (MCS) system. The system is intended for pediatric cardiopulmonary indications for use.

The NeoMate system is designed to operate a family of interchangeable extracorporeal, magnetically levitated pumps configured for multiple clinical indications for use for short (up to 30-days) cardiopulmonary support (ventricular assist, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, integrated respiratory assist, and cardiopulmonary bypass). The NeoMate system is designed to minimize human error, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes and quality of life. The Phase II research supports the continued development and refinement of the NeoMate system. The anticipated future clinical translation and commercialization of the NeoMate product line is expected to have potential significant transformative impact in helping to fulfill unmet clinical needs in the pediatric patient population, including neonates and infants.

Note: The NeoMate system is under development and is not for clinical use pending submission and approval of required regulatory approvals.
